I can't think of a better way to begin a post commemorating the last tournament I'll ever compete in than a picture of me with my big sister and role model. For those of you who don't know, the Hopkins family's involvement in NCFCA is due to her goal of becoming a lawyer -- debate appealed! Performing speeches over and over in front of people was not something I would have chosen to do on my own -- until I went to a tournament. The atmosphere, the speeches I saw, how she shone, all made me want to compete myself. Seven years later, I am a different person. NCFCA became my life. Thank you, dear Laurel, for paving the way and giving me the privilege of this journey.

Another person deserving of thanks in this experience is my incredibly stable, strong, and fabulous sister Emma. I love this picture because it so perfectly symbolizes the support she has provided for me so many times. Sick at a tournament? Emma's there. Stunned by the enormity of being done competing for good? Emma's there. Thank you, dear sister, for being strong for me - never could have done this without you.
